Antique green glass apothecary poison bottle dating back to the late 19th or ear
SKU: 04215
Antique green glass apothecary poison bottle dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Bottle has recessed, gold-bordered label which reads "LIN: BELLADON:", which stands for Linimentum Belladonnae (Belladonna Liniment). The deep vertical fluting or ribbing across the body was a vital safety feature. In low-light environments or by candlelight, the distinct ribbed texture warned pharmacists and patients by touch alone that the bottle contained a deadly poison.
