Artist Mike Cairncross was born in Leith Scotland 1958. Mike had a keen interest in Painting and sculpting from a young age. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design Dundee University. Mike is a very talented artist and his work is inspired by the beauty he sees around him, from the stars in the night’s sky to the expression on a persons face. Mike’s sculptures reveal the beauty that lies within a piece of wood or stone. The shapes he creates are simplified forms, the subject matter is always sympathetic to the colour and properties of the stone or timber he’s sculpting. Mike also enjoys sketching and painting, he paints using various media and creates stunning Landscapes and Portraits.
