John Hancock was an American statesman who was a leading figure during the Revolutionary War and the first signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The original oil on canvas by John Singleton Copley, 1765; in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A remarque is a technique where artists add hand-painted elements on top of a printed canvas.
