Privacy & cookie policy.

1. Who we are

Strichen Antiques is a family-run antiques business with shops at 54 High Street, Strichen, Fraserburgh AB43 6SR and 98 High Street, New Pitsligo AB43 6NN. We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.

2. What we collect

• When you buy from us: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, what you ordered and your order history. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card details.
• When you contact us or send an enquiry: your name, contact details and whatever you tell us in your message.
• When you offer to sell us something: your contact details, a description of the items and any photos you send.
• When you join our mailing list: your email address and when you signed up.
• When you browse the website: technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view, collected by our website platform to deliver and secure the site. See Cookies below.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. How and why we use it

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your information:

• To process and deliver your order, handle returns and answer questions about it. Basis: performing our contract with you.
• To reply to enquiries, including enquiries about items you would like to sell to us. Basis: our legitimate interest in running our business and helping customers, or taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
• To send our newsletter about new arrivals and shop news. Basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link and you can withdraw consent at any time.
• To keep accounting and tax records. Basis: our legal obligations.
• To keep the website secure and working and to prevent fraud. Basis: our legitimate interests.
• To load Google Maps on our store pages. Basis: your consent, given through our privacy settings.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need:

• Wix.com, which hosts our website, online shop, checkout, forms and mailing list.
• Payment providers (for example Wix Payments and PayPal) to take payments securely.
• Royal Mail and courier companies, who receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
• Google, if you choose to load Google Maps.
• Our accountant and professional advisers, and authorities such as HMRC where the law requires it.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers, including Wix.com and Google, may process information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by an adequacy decision or by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

• Orders and invoices: 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax purposes.
• Enquiries and selling enquiries: up to 2 years after our last contact, unless they lead to a purchase or sale.
• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
• Cookies: as shown in the table below.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it;
• ask us to restrict or stop using your information, or object to how we use it;
• ask for your information in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing or changing your privacy settings.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

8. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use essential cookies, which the site needs to work, without asking. Anything else only runs if you allow it. We do not currently use any statistics or advertising cookies.

You can change your choice at any time with the round privacy button in the bottom corner of every page, the "Privacy settings" link in the footer, or the button below.

When you pay, the Wix-hosted checkout and our payment providers may set their own essential cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the shop, such as the cart, may then stop working.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If the changes affect how we use information you have already given us, we will let you know.
