Antique Japanese Katana With Brass Details and a Leather Wrapped Handle
Antique Japanese Katana with Brass Detailing on the Tsuba Depicting Lotus Flowers this pattern is continued on the Seppas. There is also a Leather Wrap Tied to the Handle with small brass Plates keeping it in place. The blade seems to have been roughly sharpened at some point so the point line is no longer visible. The sheathe appears to be of a fair age possibly dating to the late 18th century
Historically, the katana was the primary sidearm and battlefield weapon for samurai, a symbol of their warrior status, honor, and soul, used in close combat, but also held deep cultural roles in ceremonies (like seppuku or tameshigiri), as family heirlooms, status symbols during peacetime (Edo period), and even in specialized police forces, embodying the samurai's spirit and the nation's pride.
With the blade being 27 inches it fully complies with the UKs “Ronans law”
