Wedgwood….. an iconic company that has been setting trends and producing fashionable and desirable ceramics for over 260 years.
Josiah Wedgwood I founded the Wedgwood company in 1759 and it soon became an extremely successful company exporting china to all of Europe and the Americas.
The company was well known for their Stoneware and Earthware as well as their fine china but they were most popular for their Jasperware which was first produced in the 1770s by Josiah Wedgwood.
The colours that Wedgwood make jasper ware in are light blue, dark blue, green, red, yellow, pink, brown, black and many more.
Red is considered the rarest and most valuable colour of Jasperware and was only produced for a short period of time making it extremely difficult to find.
Wedgwood was a favourite of King George III and Queen Charlotte, receiving orders from them in 1763. He was later made the official potter to the Queen and even named the line of pottery she had purchased “Queen’s Ware.”
