About this collection

Scottish Dirks & Sgian Dubh

The sgian dubh, Gaelic for 'black knife', is the small blade worn in the top of the kilt hose as part of Highland dress. The longer dirk has an even older history as the traditional weapon of the Highlander.

All bladed items are sold to customers aged 18 and over only. Read our blog guide to the history of the sgian dubh and what to look for when buying one.

Can anyone buy a sgian dubh?

How is a sgian dubh worn?
